Is coliving the future of urban housing? Visit of a shared house like no other
What is coliving? It's nothing more than a new concept of flat-sharing, a new way of life for those who love conviviality, private spaces, but also not to be satisfied with a tiny studio in the city. Here, in the Consulate, twelve "colivers" share a bourgeois house from 1860, the former consulate of the Netherlands in Lille. The mix is urban, classic parquet floors, mouldings and fireplaces are combined with design and colour for a joyful and dynamic result. What distinguishes this concept from an ordinary shared apartment? The most unpleasant of tasks, namely the household, is managed by an external person who is not part of the colivers. This avoids a lot of head-on issues for the organization. Exhibitions or concerts are organized on the ground floor. The Consulate was conceived by Lucie Moreau and Alexandra Tchidemian, creators of My Name Is Bernard, their joint coliving project, of which this house is the first realization, and which will then make small ones. So, isn't coliving in these exceptional conditions the future of urban housing? The conditions of access are to be discovered by clicking on this link.
