23m2 prefabricated ecological mini-home in the middle of nature

Sunny Watwani and Adithya Roongta, the two founders of CabinA, are particularly fond of the Nilgiris hills in India, which they have been trekking through with their backpacks for years. But mass tourism in India has brought wild constructions to these natural areas, which they find distressing. So they approached several architectural firms to create mini-homes with modern comforts, a minimal carbon footprint, and no need for land clearance, which blend naturally into their surroundings.SPASM Design Architects designed their project, a 23m2 eco-friendly prefabricated mini-home, called CabinA24 , which is sustainable, can be fully recycled, and has a minimum 20-year warranty.

It was built uphill in a total of 45 days, which is a great advantage for those wishing to have one built. The first one we see here is now ready on a coffee plantation in the picturesque mountain range of Suntikoopa, Coorg, called Betageri. It was built by Dev Desai Architects and Associates. To build these cabins, the designers are conscious of the fact that not a single tree should be cut down. Therefore, together with the architects, they evaluate the location of the prefabricated ecological mini-home. If a tree has to be cut down, they replant another one and have partnered with the global organisation OneTreePlanted.org and donate 10 trees for every mini-home they sell. Most of their buildings are also off-grid and powered by solar energy.
