Créée par The Designory , la Sikata House est une maison au design wabi-sabi à Byron Bay, une célèbre station balnéaire en Australie. Elle fait partie du projet Vela Properties, trois maisons sur un même site conçues par Melissa Bonney. C'est une maison de designer d'intérieur, faite de matériaux artisanaux, où les meubles vintage et les collections de la propriétaire et créatrice, ont trouvé naturellement leur place, dans un lieu voulu volontairement imparfait.
Le nom de la maison dérive du mot sanskrit signifiant "sable", qui a inspiré la palette de couleurs très naturelle et très douce. Melissa Bonney y a mis toute son âme, car lorsqu'elle a conçu ce lieu, elle savait qu'elle en serait la première habitante, même si c'était de façon provisoire, puisqu'il s'agit essentiellement d'une réalisation immobilière d'investissement. Elle offre outre sa décoration raffinée aux imperfections recherchées, un jardin avec une piscine, qui donnerait envie à n'importe qui de ne plus jamais quitter cet endroit.
Created by The Designory, Sikata House is a wabi-sabi design house in Byron Bay, a famous Australian seaside resort. It is part of the Vela Properties project, three houses on one site designed by Melissa Bonney. It is an interior designer's house, made of handcrafted materials, where the owner and designer's vintage furniture and collections have found a natural home in a deliberately imperfect place.
The name of the house derives from the Sanskrit word for "sand", which inspired the very natural and soft colour palette. Melissa Bonney put her heart and soul into it, because when she designed the place, she knew that she would be its first inhabitant, even if it was only temporary, as it is essentially an investment property. In addition to the refined decor with its sought-after imperfections, it offers a garden with a swimming pool, which would make anyone want to never leave this place again.
