Une maison dans une ancienne forge agrandie dans un village anglais
L'architecte Darren Bray du bureau d'architecture Studiobloc, a réalisé cette maison dans une ancienne forge, en agrandissant le bâtiment existant grâce à une extension en tôle ondulée noire. Elle a été désignée Maison de l'année par le journal anglais The DailyTelegraph en 2020, et occupe un emplacement tranquille dans le village de Whixall, en Angleterre. Les murs en briques d'origine de l'ancienne forge classée se combine à la façade moderne en tôle ondulée.
On accède à la maison par un paisible chemin de campagne, et l'on découvre cette façade étonnante où se mélangent les époques. Construite au 19e siècle, la forge ainsi transformée est devenue une maison contemporaine, où l'on retrouve les éléments d'origine soigneusement conservés et mariés à un intérieur moderne. Dans la mesure du possible, les fondations de la forge ont été soigneusement conservées ainsi que les épaisses fermes en bois qui portent encore les marques du forgeron. Les nouveaux ajouts, tels que le toit, le sol en béton et l' isolation poussée, ont été réalisés en respectant l'ossature du bâtiment d'origine.
Architect Darren Bray, of Studiobloc Architecture, created this house in a disused foundry, extending the existing building with a black corrugated iron extension. It was named House of the Year by The Daily Telegraph in 2020, and occupies a quiet location in the village of Whixall, England. The original brick walls of the listed former forge are combined with the modern corrugated iron façade.
The house is approached from a quiet country lane, and the striking façade is a mixture of eras. Built in the 19th century, the converted forge has become a contemporary house, where the original elements have been carefully preserved and combined with a modern interior. As far as possible, the foundations of the forge have been carefully preserved, as have the thick wooden trusses which still bear the marks of the blacksmith. The new additions, such as the roof, concrete floor and extensive insulation, have been carried out with respect to the original building's framework.
