Cette chaleureuse maison A-Frame est entourée par les arbres et donne directement sur les parcours du golf Pinetop Lakes en Arizona . Depuis plusieurs années, on apprécie particulièrement cette architecture typique nord-américaine qui commence à s’importer en Europe. Il faut dire que le pignon entièrement vitré qui anime la façade, et les volumes atypiques ont un charme indéniable.

C’est bien sûr le cas ici, et la terrasse  qui entoure la maison est un autre atout de cette construction. A l’intérieur, le bois est également omniprésent, marié à une décoration à l’âme vintage, en plein accord avec ce type de bâtisse. Car si on redécouvre ce style de maison de nos jours, il est populaire aux USA depuis les années 50. Et on doit l’avouer : se trouver dans une telle maison en plein hiver pour admirer le paysage enneigé, a quelque chose de magique…

Warm A-Frame home with a vintage feel surrounded by greenery

This cosy A-Frame house is surrounded by trees and directly overlooks the Pinetop Lakes golf course in Arizona . For several years now, this typical North American architecture has been appreciated and is beginning to be imported into Europe. It must be said that the entirely glazed gable which enlivens the frontage, and the atypical volumes have an undeniable charm.

This is of course the case here, and the  terrace that surrounds the house is another asset of this construction. Inside, wood is also omnipresent, combined with a decor with a vintage soul, in full agreement with this type of building. For although this style of house is being rediscovered nowadays, it has been popular in the USA since the 1950s. And we have to admit it: there is something magical about being in such a house in the middle of winter and admiring the snowy landscape…

Des murs peints en vert et une décoration vintage pour un appartement suédois

On a souvent l’habitude de voir dans la décoration actuelle, un mur d’accentuation, peint dans une couleurs soutenue, ou habillé de papier-peint pour attirer l’oeil et devenir le point focal d’une pièce. Ici, c’est une décoration “à l’ancienne” qui a été choisie, l’intégralité des murs peints en vert donne une ambiance originale à cet appartement suédois situé dans un immeuble ancien construit en 1883 à Stockholm. Il donne sur une cour tranquille et est très lumineux.

La décoration du salon aux murs peints en vert, est complétée par la présence d’un canapé dont le coloris oscille entre le moutarde et le brun, des chaises Wishbone vertes également, et d’un meuble vintage ancien aux formes originales. On retrouve le vert comme fil conducteur dans la cuisine, et les chambres, où le terracotta vient contraster. Dans cet appartement aux beaux volumes, avec ses moulures, ses rosaces, et son parquet à bâtons rompus, ce coloris frais semble à sa place, mais oseriez-vous faire le même choix dans un habitat plus contemporain avec des surfaces moyennes?

Green walls and vintage decor for a Swedish flat

In today’s decor, we are often used to seeing an accent wall, painted in a strong colour, or dressed with wallpaper to attract the eye and become the focal point of a room. Here, it is an “old-fashioned” decor that has been chosen, with the entire wall painted green to give an original atmosphere to this Swedish flat located in an old building from 1883 in Stockholm. It overlooks a quiet courtyard and is very bright.

The decor in the living room, with its green walls, is complemented by a sofa whose colour varies between mustard and brown, green Wishbone chairs and a vintage piece of furniture with original shapes. Green is also a common thread in the kitchen and the bedrooms, where terracotta contrasts. In this flat with its beautiful volumes, mouldings, rosettes and herringbone parquet, this fresh colour seems to be in its place, but would you dare to make the same choice in a more contemporary home with average surfaces?

Poutres et colonnes dans un appartement ouvert à Madrid

C’est l’architecte Lorena del Pozo qui a réhabilité cet appartement à Madrid, avec ses poutres et colonnes en bois patiné et acier. La réflexion a été basée sur l’écologie avec l’utilisation de matériaux sains comme le souhaitait par dessus tout la propriétaire de cet appartement de 220m2 situé dans un bâtiment construit en 1900. Les produits qui ont été mis en oeuvre sont des peintures minérales respirantes et sans solvants pour les murs, un parquet de chêne massif de 3 cm d’épaisseur pour les sols, et des menuiseries en pin du nord certifié FSC. La salle de bain a été revêtue de Mortex, un mortier à base de chaux et de pigments naturels.

L’appartement était très compartimenté en neuf petites pièces dont certaines totalement aveugles. L’architecte a décidé d’ouvrir les volumes, pour ne plus en avoir que cinq, très lumineuses. Les poutres et colonnes en bois patiné et acier rythment le nouveau plan, et apportent leur touche de charme à cet appartement désormais modernisé dans le meilleur sens du terme, qui respecte ses éléments d’origine. La décoration en tons naturels est joliment adaptée au lieu, et mise en valeur par la lumière qui provient des grandes fenêtres. Le mobilier est lui aussi composé principalement de matériaux naturels comme le bois, le rotin ou la pierre, et combine les éléments contemporains avec des pièces rustiques ou vintage. Beams and columns in an open flat in Madrid

The architect Lorena del Pozo rehabilitated this flat in Madrid, with its beams and columns in patinated wood and steel. The reflection was based on ecology with the use of healthy materials as the owner of this 220m2 flat, located in a building built in 1900, wanted above all. The products used are mineral breathable paints without solvents for the walls, 3 cm thick solid oak parquet for the floors, and FSC-certified northern pine joinery. The bathroom was covered with Mortex, a lime-based mortar with natural pigments.

The flat was very compartmentalised into nine small rooms, some of which were completely blind. The architect decided to open up the volumes, so that there were only five very bright rooms. The beams and columns in patinated wood and steel,  give rhythm to the new plan, and bring a touch of charm to this flat, which has now been modernised in the best sense of the word, respecting its original elements. The decoration in natural tones is nicely adapted to the place, and highlighted by the light coming from the large windows. Une charmante maison de pierres rénovée dans les Cotswolds

Cette charmante maison de pierres rénovée à la décoration vintage se trouve dans le sud de l’Angleterre dans la région des Cotswolds. Si sa façade est restée identique à la construction initiale de cette ancienne grange en pierres du début du 19e siècle, l’intérieur a été totalement modernisé. Les murs blancs s’associent désormais aux vieilles poutres et au sol en parquet de bois clair. Les espaces ont été largement ouverts afin de créer une véritable family room au premier niveau qui regroupe la cuisine avec un bar, le salon confortable et la salle à manger.

A l’étage, les chambres mansardées ont conservé le charme du passé, avec les lits en métal, les vieux quilts jetés négligemment sur les meubles, le mobilier en bois récupéré dans les brocantes. Des tableaux anciens sont accrochés aux murs, comme autant de témoignages d’une vie qui semblait plus douce autrefois. La maison est construite dans le charmant village de Churchill, qui est un point de départ parfait pour explorer cette jolie région campagnarde.

This charmingly renovated stone house with vintage decor is located in the south of England in the Cotswolds region. While the façade remains the same as the original construction of this early 19th century stone barn, the interior has been completely modernised. The white walls are now combined with the old beams and light wood flooring. The spaces have been widely opened up to create a real family room on the first level, which includes the kitchen with a bar, the comfortable living room and the dining room.

Upstairs, the attic bedrooms have retained the charm of the past, with metal beds, old quilts thrown carelessly on the furniture, and wooden pieces salvaged from second-hand shops. Old paintings hang on the walls, like testimonies of a life that once seemed softer. The house is built in the charming village of Churchill, which is a perfect base for exploring this beautiful country region.

Un appartement aux belles lignes classiques et à la décoration actuelle

Cet appartement aux belles lignes classiques a été rénové par Bárbara Serra, du studio de design intérieur BÄSE. Situé dans le quartier  de l’Eixample à Barcelone, il appartient à Olga qui est tombée amoureuse de ses volumes anciens dès la première visite. Mais il devait être modernisé et doté d’une décoration actuelle pour cette jeune femme dynamique. L’architecte d’intérieur s’est attachée à lui donner une âme chaleureuse et moderne, sans trahir son essence ancienne.

La base est composée d’un sol en chêne couleur sable, et de murs gris légers, et grâce à la hauteur sous plafond, l’ensemble est très lumineux. Le mobilier et la décoration mélangent des éléments classiques à des plus actuels, avec un équilibre réussi. Cet appartement aux belles lignes classiques a ainsi retrouvé une nouvelle vie, et s’est adapté au 21e siècle sans pour cela perdre son charme d’origine. Photo : Pepa Oromí. Classically beautiful flat with a contemporary design

The flat has been renovated by Bárbara Serra of the interior design studio BÄSE and has beautiful classical lines. Located in the Eixample district of Barcelona, it belongs to Olga who fell in love with its old volumes from the first visit. But it needed to be modernised and decorated in a contemporary way for this dynamic young woman. The interior designer set out to give it a warm, modern soul without betraying its ancient essence.

The base is composed of a sand-coloured oak floor and light grey walls, and thanks to the high ceiling, the whole is very bright. The furniture and decoration mix classic elements with more contemporary ones, with a successful balance.
